Flea

Fleas are small parasites that feed off of your pets blood. Fleas cause irritation and can transmit other parasites such as tapeworms. Depending on the size and health of your pet, fleas can cause other severe complications such as anemia.

Tick

Ticks are small arachnid parasites that feed off of blood. They carry highly transmittable diseases such as lyme disease . The size of ticks can range from the size of a poppy seed to about a centimeter.

Mite

Mites are microscopic parasites. They typically present themselves in the ears or on the skin. They cause rashes and extremely itchy spots.

Gastro-intestinal Worms

There are many types of gastrointestinal worms that your pets can contract. These are roundworms, hookworms, whipworms and tapeworms. All of these come with risks but are highly preventable and treatable.

Heartworm

Heartworms are a parasite that are transmitted through blood. This typically occurs through a mosquito bite. The larva enter into the blood stream, then make their way to the heart, where they grow and become adults. Heartworm can be life threatening.

Lungworm

Lungworms are parasites that reside in the circulatory system and can cause devastating damage to organs such as the lungs. It is transmitted through small animals such as slugs, snails and frogs. Lungworm can be fatal.
